Mazda Bongo Roof Wont Open

There s a mystery button in my bongo.

Mazda bongo auto free top elevating roof. Roof not open or close. I use my 1996 bongo 2 5d a lot but have not raised the roof for a while and yesterday when trying to do so it didn t work. The bleeping sounds ok but pressing the open button has no effect.

One is the two main motors at the back and the other is the two main gas struts. I have a 1997 2 5 ltr diesel bongo and today my roof wont go up i have never had a problem with it before so it is puzzling. The bongos originally came with a length of cord and an allen key to get the roof down manually in an emergency though. Temp till you replace the switch. The owners manual will reveal whether or not there is a manual way but i doubt it. There are two main points on a aft auto free top elevating roof.

With my foot on the brake and the engine running when i operate the switch you can hear the motors operating and the alarm bleeping but the dash warning light is not lit up and the roof does not rise one jot.
